Spectacle lens bevelling grinder - uses pivot slide to mount lens and template with electronic servo control for template contact level

The automatic grinder bevels the edges of an optical spectacles lens, using a slide (1) guided in rotation and translation by a fixed horizontal rail (5). A horizontal axle (2) secures a lens (3) and template (4) in relationship to grinders (7-9) is mounted on the slide, and is rotated slowly by a motor. The template and lens are rotated whilst in contact with the stop (10) and grinders respectively. Push-buttons on a control-board operate electronic servos to regulate the height of the stop and the lateral position of the slide. The stop may be driven by a motor (14) through a rack (16) and pinion (15), its position detected by a potentiometer (23). The motor (20) may drive the slide through a rack (22) and pinion (21) and frame slide (13,17) and the potentiometer (24) may monitor the movement.
