Plastic bags with internal supports for flexible contents - involving rails confined by interfacial welds

Plastic bags for contg. non-rigid articles, such as clothes, incorporate internal bridges near each edge of the bag to support a rod or stiff cord from which the non-rigid articles can hang. The bridges are made by short welds linking the internal faces of the bag. The support card may be profiled to control the hang of asymmetric items such as trousers. Rod supports may be trapped by internal welds located above the level of the rod; the welds may be made after fitting the rod, or the rod may be introduced via a vent hole at a level between two sets of welds. The support may have a rough surface, to inhibit slipping. Used esp. for transparent polyethylene bags having bridges made by ultrasonic welding.
