The motor driven hoe uses an electric motor driving an eccentric linkage to produce a hoeing action for cultivation of soil. The hoe is mounted on wheels (4) and has a handle (6) fitted with controls (7) for the electric motor (9) and providing anchorage for the electric supply cable (8). A belt (10), driven by a pulley on the electric motor shaft, drives a pulley wheel (11) mounted (17) on the frame (18) of the hoe. Pins on opposite faces of the pulley and diametrically opposite move connecting rods (12) which are carried on movable arms (28). A curved tyne (14), with a hoe attachment (15) at the end is fixed to the connecting rod. When the motor turns the rotary motion is converted to an oscillatory vertical motion at the hoe attachment.
