Small asynchronous electric motor - uses ball bearings locked to rotor shaft by flexible washers and clamped during assembly into pressed metal end plate bearing housings
Small asynchronous electric motor - uses ball bearings locked to rotor shaft by flexible washers and clamped during assembly into pressed metal end plate bearing housings
The motor comprises an external stator (1) with its associated pole winding (2). The rotor (3) runs inside the stator, and is mounted on a shaft (4) carried in ball bearings. The motor housing is a sheet metal cylinder (5) with pressed metal end plates (6,7) joined to it round their periphery (8,9). The bearing housings (10,15) are pressed into the end plates and the outer ball bearing races (20,20a) are clamped inside. The inner races (23,23a) are slip fitted to the rotor shaft and flexible washers (27,28,29) of metal or plastic are fitted between shoulders (26,26a) on the shaft and the inner bearing races to fix the latter to the rotor.
