Fail-safe brake for trailer - has slide valve to actuate trailer brakes when tractor coupling is broken

The fail-safe brake for an agricultural trailer comprises a block (10). This contains an inlet (31) connected to the brake circuit of the tractor by a pipe, an outlet (47) connected to the wheel cylinders of the trailer and an auxiliary inlet (32) connected to a pressure chamber. A slide valve (11) in the block is moved from one position in which the inlet and outlet are in communication to a second position in which the inlet is closed and the auxiliary inlet and the outlet are in communication when the coupling between the tractor and trailer is broken.
