Liquid crystal displays (3) are soldered to a single or double sided PCB. Additional PCB's support the electronic components such as the seven segment decoders and counters necessary for the operation of the displays. These PCB's are mounted perpendicularly to the LCD PCB. The rigidity is obtained by soldering and gluing (4) the tracks which are common to both circuit boards. Rigid copper wires are used to connect the PCB's to the common supply rails. These also help provide a rigid assembly and act as spacers for the component PCB's. Edge connectors provide plug in connections to the component PCB's and the whole assembly is housed in a protective plastics case with the displays visible through a transparent window.
