Topical compsns. contg. arnica extract - together with camphor, menthol and surfactant for topical treatment of inflammations and infections

Compsns. contg. an antiinflammatory agent such as arnica extract, a sedative such as camphor, a disinfectant such as menthol, a surfactant or penetrating agent such as triethanolamine, and a lipo-aqueous excipient, such as a major amt. of stearine and a minor amt. of water, are new. The compsns. pref. contain 1-4 g arnica extract, 0.1-0.6 g camphor, 0.01-0.08 g menthol, 0.02-0.08 g triethanolamine and 0.5-2 g excipient. Used for topical treatment of inflammatory and/or infectious states affecting the skin, mucous membranes or teeth such as abcesses, boils, blackheads, fever pustules, eczema, haemorrhoids, pruritis, bad teeth, dental abcesses etc. Synergism between the various components gives the compsns. an improved antiinflammatory local analgesic, and cicatrising effect.
