The container has slots (10,12) to increase the tear-resistance of cardboard walls at the bottom of a notch (4) or the end of a slot hole, an application being to interlocking pre-cut pieces dividing a box into bottle compartments. An inducer or cut slit extends from each side of the notch in the vicinity of the bottom, comprising two lengths (10,12) which align approximately parallel to and normal to the notch respectively. A fold line (15) may connect the inducers aligned normal to and sited beyond the notch.
