Marker for ear of animal - uses two similar leaves connected by stiffened tie and with opposite parallel skew edges, one fixed to stem of trocar
The tag comprises two identity plates (1,2) connected by a reinforced tie (3) and is used as an ear-marker for sheep. The plates have the same shape, their opposite edges are parallel whilst being angled at some 30 degrees to the horizontal, and one (8) of the latter edges is fixed to the shaft (4) of a trocar (5) whilst the other (9) is suitably stiffened (10). The tag is installed by rolling the relevant plate onto the shaft of the trocar which is then threaded through a perforation of the animals ear. The shaft may be welded to a returned edge of the plate or may fit in a sleeve (7) formed by the edge, the skew of the edge being such that the plate presents a minimum thickness when rolled spiral fashion onto the shaft.
