The holder locks a tool-holder (3) in the head (5) of a small portable electric drill, being actuated by the rotation of a sleeve (11) mounted on the head. A passage (7) in the head accommodates the holder and is fitted with flexible locking arms (19) extending from a lower locking ring (20). The arms have the shape of a circular segment in cross section, located by cavities (15) in the inside face of the sleeve. The cavities are shaped as a circular arc (16) and bounded by a straight stop edge (17) with an inwardly converging ramp (18) face. Locking is effected by rotating the sleeve relative to the head. The arms may be substituted by separate pins actuated by a cammed sleeve.
