Air inlets are provided above the toilet bowl and have internal walls to form ducts leading air from the bowl to a cylindrical fan installed around the cover hinge. The fan draws air through the bowl, thence through the seat cover and exhausts the air through outlets behind the seat cover hinge. The cylindrical fan is electrically driven at a speed of 3000 rpm by a brushless async. motor. The base of the labyrinth in the seat cover is lined with a removable sheet impregnated with a deodrant, or alternatively deodorant blocks are placed at various locations in the labyrinth. The operation of the electric motor is controlled by an electrical contact on the seat cover and a timer keeps the motor running for a preset interval after the cover is closed.
