The machine for cutting and grooving concrete roads etc. comprises a chassis (1) moving on wheels (3,3a) and supporting a horizontal frame (12) which can move vertically w.r.t. the chassis under the action of rams (13,13a). The frame (12) comprises a lower beam (29) and two upper rails (20a) which support rollers (22,22a) attached to a carriage. In use, a cog (34) driven by a motor on the carriage meshes with teeth on the lower beam and causes the carriage and its associated cutting tools to move transversely over the road on wheels (39).
