Wood cutting from log, using laser alignment - has lasers on mobile carrier to detect wood piece position and hydraulically positioned guides to alter orientation before cutting

The installation uses a mobile laser light source giving a light beam which remains parallel to a given direction. Mobile guides locate the piece of wood to be aligned, and a servo controller displaces the light source and mobile guides to modify the orientation of the piece of wood. The light source and the mobile guides are coupled by a calculator which controls them both and also memorises the position of the light sources. The cutters are automatically positioned along the line of the light beams stored by the calculator. Double acting hydraulic cylinders are used to position the guides and light source, with their supply of hydraulic fluid regulated by the controller.
