Wettable powder for the protection of crops against mildew contains per kg of powder:- copper sulphate 500-900 g, pref. 720 g; calcium hydroxide 50-300 g, pref. 180 g; zinc sulphate 10-100g, pref. 50 g; sodium tetraborate 8-80 g, pref. 44 g and a powder complement. The powder may also contain manganese sulphate 1-15 g; pref. 5 g and ammonium heptamolybdate 0.2-5 g, pref. 1 g, or sodium molybdate 0.25-6.25 g, pref. 1 g. Used for protection of plants, esp. vines, against mildew. The present compsn. improves the proteosynthesis, lowers the proportion of reducing sugar w.r.t. total sugars and protects the plants against lower fungi and bacteria. The compsn. avoids the problems associated with use of Bordeaux or Burgundy mixts. and with use of synthetic fungicides, which may control mildew but favour new infections. The mixt. is applied at 3-6 kg/hectare, the powder being dissolved in 300-1000 l, pref. 500 l, of water.
