A soln. is made contg. an alkali metal silicate, and is continuously reacted at a suitable temp. with a quantity of an acid soln. which converts the alkali metal into a salt and forms a gel. The gel is removed from the reactor or mixer, diluted with water, and then mixed with metal salts to form a silicate contg. two or more metals, and which can be filtered, washed and dried in a known manner. The amt. of acid soln. added to the soln. of alkali metal silicate is pref. max. 0.55 of the equiv. of the hydroxide of the alkali metal. The invention is suitable for mfg. e.g. calcium-sodium silicate or lead-sodium silicate. Further developments of processes described in 81.07189 and 81.14316.
