Anti-skid braking for railway vehicle - uses speed detectors at each axle, and deceleration and rate of deceleration feedback to form error signal controlling braking effort
Anti-skid braking for railway vehicle - uses speed detectors at each axle, and deceleration and rate of deceleration feedback to form error signal controlling braking effort
The anti-skid braking system measures the speed at each axle, and combines the differences between each axle speed and a generated reference speed for comparison with a threshold value beyond which adjustment is made to the braking effort to reduce slippage between wheels and rails to an acceptable level. The combined speed error is used to generate an absolute slip value which is compared to a threshold. The resulting error signal is multiplied by a coefficient which is a decreasing function of the reference speed, to obtain a command signal giving progressive control of the braking cylinders. In addition deceleration and rate of deceleration feedback is incorporated in calculating the error.
