Drum for storing radioactive scrap - where cast iron or steel inner drum is placed in outer concrete drum, and both drums can be reopened if required

The scrap has medium or high radioactivity, and is placed in an inner drum(a) made of steel or cast iron and sealed by a lid(a1) with a mushroom-shaped head(a2) at the centre of the upper surface of the lid(a1). Drum(a) is placed in a concrete pot (b), which has an internal shoulder supporting a concrete lid(b1) forming a seal. The upper part of pot(b) has holes for radial bolts which are screwed into radial holes in lid(b1) to clamp the latter on pot(b). The periphery of pot(b) pref. has a ring groove so it can be lifted by crane tongs. If required, the drum(a,b) can be opened to provide access to the scrap.
