The subassembly 100 according to the invention comprises: an end frame 110 fitted with its four corner pieces 130; a skirt 140 butt-welded to the frame; and stiffening means 150 connecting the frame to the skirt. This subassembly is fitted over the base 220 of a self-supporting tank 200 in the proximity of the connecting weld 240 of the base 220 and the cylindrical body 210 of this tank. This arrangement allows, during the assembly of the tank-container, an easy adjustment of the dimensions of the latter by sliding at least one of the sub-assemblies on the tank before final welding.
