Process for polychrome decoration of leathers or the like, characterised in that it consists in preparing the surface of the leather to be decorated by coating it with a substance containing a resin which has very good receptivity to dyes or inks capable of subliming in vapour phase, by optionally drying the leather thus coated and then by coating the said surface thus treated with a lacquer which is antiadhesive and which produces an attractive surface state, in then pressing onto the surface prepared in this way a transfer-carrier bearing a decorative pattern based on dyes or inks capable of subliming, while heating the said carrier to an appropriate temperature and, finally, in removing the said carrier.
