Invention making it possible automatically to start up wind machines with vertical axes. The device comprises moving blades connected to the transmission shaft by a spring and a strap, and a rotor made from a framework formed from sixteen shaped spokes per level, behaving like a wind machine, and of diagonals which are also shaped, joining the various levels of spokes together. The spokes are surrounded by straps. The assembly of the rotor is held in equilibrium by two polygons and a portal frame. At the base it is supported by the machinery room. IMAGE
