The invention relates to a process for continuous dyeing a cellulosic fibrous substrate with a direct or reactive dye comprising the steps ofPP(a) applying to the substrate an aqueous dyeing liquor containing an alkanolamine, followed byPP(b) fixing the dyeings, and finallyPP(c) after-treating the dyed substrate with a fixing agent,PPthe resulting dyeings having improved wet fastnesses.
