PURPOSE:To automatically produce a capacity table, by registering the capacity of a partner device which is obtained from a partner capacity informing signal from the partner device contained in a control signal for facsimile communication in a control memory. CONSTITUTION:When a calling operation is made and the circuit between the calling facsimile device and called facsimile device is connected, a CPU32a communicates a pre-procedure control signal with the called facsimile device in accordance with a transmission controlling procedure. Upon receiving a receiving capacity informing signal NSF/DIS from the called facsimile device, the CPU32a stores the signal in a RAM32C and judges the capacity of the called device by using the signal. Then the CPU32a checks whether or not the capacity registering switch of an operation panel 34 is depressed and, when the switch is depressed, converts the capacity informing signal into a capacity code, and then, registers the code in a capacity column corresponding to the telephone No. of the called device of the capacity table TM of the RAM32C.
