METHOD FOR PRODUCING HEMOSTATIC SUBSTANCE FROM ECLIPTA PROSTRATA, AND HEMOSTATIC AGENT CONTAINING SAID COMPONENT

PURPOSE:To obtain a wedelolactone derivative, by extracting Eclipta prostrata with hot water, treating the extract with countercurrent fractionation to remove the fat-soluble substance, and separating and purifying the remaining fraction by gel-filtration column chromatography. CONSTITUTION:Eclipta prostrata is extracted with hot water, and the extract is subjected to the countercurrent fractionation with a solvent composed of n-butanol and water moving the lower layer to remove the most part of the fat-soluble substance. The obtained water-soluble substance is eluted by gel-filtration column chromatography using methanol as the elutant, and the eluent is recrystallized to obtain the objective compound of formula (R is H or CH3). USE:A hemostatic effective for the remedy of pulmonary hemorrhage, cerebral hemorrhage, retinal hemorrhage, purpura, hypoplastic anemia, etc.
