LEVELER EQUIPPED WITH COMPACTING DEVICE FOR UPPER LAYER COAL IN COKE OVEN

PURPOSE:To increase the bulk density of loaded coal at the top of a carbonization chamber and in the center in the width direction of an oven and improve coke quality to minimized variability, by adjusting the height of compacting rollers and levelling coal in regular succession in keeping with reciprocal sliding motion of a leveller. CONSTITUTION:A leveller 14 is pushed forward into a carbonization chamber 1 by moving a travelling shoot 13 from a leveller entrance 11 of an overn cover 10 on the extrusion side. A compacting roller 16 rotates by its own weight and comes down to press coal 5 on the top in the center of the carbonization chamber in the oven width direction for levelling. As a bearing 21 is moved upward by a pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder 25, coal 5 on the pressed coal 5 is levelled. Thus, as the bearing 21 is moved up to the top of a leveller frame 20, while the height of the compacting roller is being adjusted in regular succession, the bulk density of coal is increased at the top, esp. in the center in the oven width direction. As the cylinder 25 is actuated at the end of operation to move the bearing 21 downward and draw out the leveller 14, the compacting roller 16 is pushed upward and the leveller 14 is pushed back to the former state.
