PURPOSE:To obtain a filler metal for an austenitic stainless steel having resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking by incorporating a specific amt. of C, Si, Mn, Cr, Ni and Cu into a steel. CONSTITUTION:A filler metal for an austenitic stainless steel material is composed, by weight %, of =0.08 C, =1 Si, 2-3 Mn, 16-25 Cr, 6-20 Ni, 0.5-3 Cu and the balance Fe and inevitable impurities. The impurities are permissible if =0.03 P and =0.005 S. Such filler metal is effective as mentioned above when applied to a welding method such as shielded metal arc welding, MIG welding or TIG welding, etc.
