摘要
PURPOSE:To obtain a steel for a high-carbon wire rod having good drawability and resistance characteristic to fatigue by adding an alloy contg. Si and Mn to a raw material molten steel and subjecting the molten steel to deoxidation and component adjustment then putting the molten steel into an out-of-furnace refining furnace, adding a prescribed basic flux thereto in an inert or vacuum atmosphere and adjusting the components of the molten steel. CONSTITUTION:A steel for a high-carbon wire rod contg. 0.4-1.0wt% C, 0.15-0.35wt% Si, 0.3-0.9wt% Mn is produced by the following method: An alloy contg. Si and Mn is preliminarily added to the raw material steel and the molten steel subjected to deoxidation and component adjustment is charged into an out-of-furnace refining furnace. The furnace is held in an inert or vacuum atmosphere and while the oxygen in the steel is reduced under addition of the basic flux consisting of CaO-SiO2-Al2O3 thereto, the slag compsn. after the end of refining is adjusted as shown by the in equality. The total amt. of Al in the molten steel subjected to refining is controlled to =10g/t to soften the inclusions while the reduction of the oxygen in the steel is assured. The high yield is assured by the decreased blowholes and the steel for the high-carbon wire rod having the above-described characteristics is obtd.
