PURPOSE:To improve measuring accuracy, by attaching a long-shaft part to chuck devices, which support both ends of the long-shaft part, so that the relative angular phase difference between the devices becomes zero. CONSTITUTION:Both ends of a propeller shaft 1 are attached to a driving side chuck device 2 and a supporting side chuck device 3, respectively. At this time, the chuck device 3 is not chucked. Then the relative angular phase difference between both chuck devices is computed by angle reference generators 18 and 20, which are provided on both chuck devices. Thereafter, a low speed motor 12 is operated, and a position, where the relative angular phase difference between both chuck devices becomes zero, is obtained. When the position is obtained, the motor 12 is stopped. Then, the chuck device 3 is tightened, and the chucking work for the other end of the shaft 1 is finished. In this attaching work, the effect of unbalance caused by the change in attitude of the propeller under the chucked state can be suppressed to the minimum, thereby the masuring accuracy can be enhanced.
