PURPOSE:To accelerate the initial speed of drop of weights, by a method wherein the weights, hammering an anvil, are located in the cylinder of a pile hammering device, and a compressed-air chamber is formed with a cylinder head at the upper end of the cylinder and the upper part of the weight. CONSTITUTION:An anvil 13, having a cylinder and a clearance 33, is provided at the lower end of a cylinder 14 of a pile hammering device and in the hammering direction of weights 6 and 7, and a cylinder head 69 is provided at the upper end of the cylinder 14. A rod piston 23 is located to the under surface of the cylinder head 69, and a cylinder 22 is situated to the upper part of the weight 6 in a position located facing the rod piston 23. With the weights 6 and 7 raised through excitation of solenoid coils 1 and 3, the rod piston 23 is engaged with a cylinder 22 to form a compressed air chamber, and this enables acceleration of the initial speed of drop of the weights 6 and 7 in order to pressurize the air in the compressed-air chamber.
