PRODUCTION OF PSICOFURANINE

摘要

PURPOSE:To produce psicofuranine useful as an antibiotic substance, economically, by culturing a microbial strain belonging to Micromonospora genus and capable of producing psicofuranine, and separating the psicofuranine accumulated in the cultured product. CONSTITUTION:A microbial strain belonging to Micromonospora genus and capable of producing psicofuranine (e.g. novel subspecies: Micromonospora echinospora subsp. psicofuraca, FERM-P No. 7131) is cultured aerobically in a nutrient medium by normal liquid cultivation method, especially by a submerged technique, under neutral or weakly alkaline pH condition at about 25-35 deg.C. The psicofuranine of formula accumulated in the cultured product is separated and purified by the combination of activated carbon adsorption, silica gel column chromatography, sephadex column chromatography, etc. to obtain the objective psicofuranine.
