PURPOSE:To manufacture sintered soft magnetic parts having considerably improved corrosion resistance without deteriorating the soft magnetic characteristics by forming a layer of iron nitride represented by a specified formula on the surface of a sintered material having a specified composition. CONSTITUTION:A dense layer of iron nitride represented by a formula FeN0.25- FeN0.45 is formed on the surface of a sintered soft magnetic material. The thickness of the dense layer is 5-100mum. The sintered soft magnetic material has =7.0g/cm3 sintering density and is made of high purity iron contg. =0.05% C and =0.05% O. To the iron may be added 0.1-0.8% P or 1-7% Si.
