PURPOSE:To save the labor for the manual initial setting of the antenna for the maritime satellite communication device and to realize a low-charge communication by selecting the satellite in the shortest communication route on the basis of nationality- classified identification dial data on a communication destination, and allowing the antenna to track this satellite. CONSTITUTION:An arithmetic device 4 calculates the azimuths and elevations of its ship to respective satellites A-C on the basis of ship position data and bow azimuth data obtained by a ship position measuring device 1 and a bow azimuth measuring device 2. For example, when this ship has communication with Japan in sailing in the overlap area of both service areas of both satellites A and B, the dial of a transmitting and receiving part 3 is operated to input nationality-classified dial data on Japan to a main device 5 and the arithmetic device 4. The arithmetic device 4 selects the satellite A in the shortest route among routes passed through both the satellites A and B from the ship to Japan on the basis of the dial data, and a tracking command signal based upon arithmetic values of the azimuth and elevation of the ship to the satellite A is outputted to direct the antenna 6 to the satellite A, through which a communication line is connected between the ship and Japan.
