PURPOSE:To simplify constitution by enabling the unitization of a crosshead lift mechanism part, by converting the rotary motion of a driving force generation and transmission apparatus to linear motion, and raising and falling a crosshead through a lead screw. CONSTITUTION:A test piece 198 is placed in a pressure container 180 by a meterial tester for testing a constant strain speed, and tensile and compression pressures are repeatedly loaded and load is detected by a load cell 209 while elongation is detected by a defferential transformer 213 to calculate a stress-strain curve. A crosshead lift mechanism converts rotary motion by a driving force generation unit 190 (motor) and a driving force transmission unit 191-193 (gear box) to linear motion through the crosshead lift unit 194 thereof and a movable crosshead 208 is raised and fallent by a lead screw 207. By this mechanism, the crosshead lift mechanism can be unitized and a test can be applied to a plurality of test pieces under different load conditions.
