PURPOSE:To prevent decrease in productivity owing to the unbalance in bath compsn. on the inside and outside of a horizontal rotary barrel and putting in and out of an article to be plated with said barrel by providing apertures for putting in and out of the article to be plated, passing of a plating bath and passing of electrolytic current at both ends of said barrel. CONSTITUTION:A barrel 1 consists of a hollow body having a cylindrical part 2 at the center, aperture parts 4 at both ends and plural dewatering holes 5 on the side face. An article 8 which is to be treated and is subjected to a pretreatment is charged into said body through the aperture 4. The barrel 1 is pivotally supported in the horizontal direction freely rotatably to brackets 9 near the right and left apertures 4. An intermediate gear 11 disposed to an intermediate revolving shaft 12 supported pivotally to the brackets 9 is meshed with the driven gear 6 of the barrel 1 and the main driving gear 16 of a geared motor 15. A cathode part 20 is preliminarily inserted through the aperture 4 at the left end into the barrel 1 and is brought into contact with the article 8. Anode parts 21 are disposed to face the apertures 4, 4 in a plating bath 18 in which the barrel 1 is immersed by about 2/3. The barrel 1 is thereupon rotated by the motor 15 and electricity is conducted between the parts 20 and 21 to perform plating.
