PURPOSE:To provide a titled mechanism which rotates revolving rolls around the axial lines of the rolls while connecting the same in a way to permit swiveling back and forth from the air into the inside of water in an immersion hardening device for a steel pipe which holds the heated steel pipes with the revolving rolls and retaining rolls, and lowers and immerses the pipe into the water while rotating the pipe in the air. CONSTITUTION:Revolving rolls 9 are rotated around the axial centers thereof with a driving shaft 30, the gear transmission mechanism in a transmission gear box 24, inclined connecting rods 23, 23, and roll shafts 9a, 9a by the rotation of a driving motor 31. The rolls are also turned back and forth at an angle theta around a revolving shaft 6 together with the box 24 and the rods 23, 23 with a connecting bar, an oscillating rod, the shaft 6 and a rotating arm 7a by the driving of a motor for driving the tilting arm. The steel pipe 1 on the rolls 9, 9 is immersed into a water tank 11 from the air while the pipe is kept rotated. Since the rods 23, 23 face diagonally upward from the shafts 9a, 9a during this time, the rods 23, 23 are prevented from contacting with the top edge of the tank 11. A set of the rolls 9, 9 are rotated together in the same direction by the gear train in the box 24.
