CHAINED LINE INTERPOLATION SYSTEM FOR XY PLOTTER

PURPOSE:To generate arbitrary chained line patterns easily and permit easy recording by multiplying the pattern length called from a pattern table by the direction cosines determined from the coordinates of given two points thereby determining the extent of movement. CONSTITUTION:Extent of movement LAB is operated with a processor in accordance with the coordinate data of given two points A, B, and the increment signal corresponding to said extent of movement is applied to an XY recorder which records between said two points A and B linearly. With such XY plotter, the direction cosines in an X-axis direction and a Y-axis direction are determined from the coordinate data of the given two points A, B, and the chained line pattern length called from a pattern table is multiplied by these direction cosines, whereby extents of movement Dx, Dy or dx, dy are determined. The increment signal corresponding to these extents of movement and the pen up- down signal corresponding to the chained line pattern are applied to the XY recorder which interpolates and record between the two points A and B with the chained lines.
