METHOD FOR STABLY APPLYING ANTISEPTIC TREATMENT TO SYNTHETIC POLYMER EMULSION

PURPOSE:To apply stably an antiseptic treatment to a synthetic polymer emulsion without causing caking, by adding a soln. of a 3-isothiazolone metal salt complex contg. a metal salt stabilizer and an anionic surfactant in combination. CONSTITUTION:A soln. (A) contg. a 3-isothiazolone metal salt complex of the formula (wherein X is H, Cl; M is a metal atom; Y is an anionic atom or radical; m is 1,2; n is a number determined by the valence requirement of Y or M) such as 2-methylisothiazolone/magnesium chloride complex and a metal salt stabilizer such as magnesium nitrate and an anionic surfactant (B) such as an alkyl naphthalene sulfonate salt or sulfated castor oil are added to a synthetic polymer emulsion. Pref. the metal complex in the emulsion is used in a quantity of 5-1,000ppm and at least 0.1pt.wt. surfactant per 100pts.wt. metal complex is used.
