PRODUCTION OF BLAST FURNACE COKE COMPRISING LARGE AMOUNT OF LOW RANK COAL

PURPOSE:To obtain blast furnace coke from a large amount of inexpensive low rank coal without degrading the strength, by carbonizing a mixture of a mixed coal with adjusted moisture and briquettes of specific composition. CONSTITUTION:(A) 60wt% or more of a mixed coal, which is obtained by mixing 80wt% or more of coking coal with 20wt% or less of low rank coal, preferably having an FSI of 0-2, a fluidity index of 0-10DDPM and the total swelling index of 0, and adjusted to a moisture content =4wt%, preferably an FSI of 3-9 and the volatile content of 25-33%, is mixed with (B) 40wt% or less or briquettes, which are adjusted to a moisture content of preferably 4wt% or less, and consist of 10wt% or more coking coal, 90wt% or less low rank coal, and a binder and/or a caking agent, preferbly an aromatic bituminous substance. The resulting mixture is carbonized to give the objective coke.
