WIRE TRAVELLING TYPE REPAIR DEVICE FOR INSIDE WALL OF BLAST FURNACE BY SPRAYING

PURPOSE:To repair the inside wall of a blast furnace while hot with a small number of operators without requiring new installation of a manhole by suspending freely vertically movably a sprayer with a swiveling nozzle to a travelling device supported to a wire rope provided between the opposed manholes in the upper part of the blast furnace. CONSTITUTION:A main wire rope 10 is extended between opposed manholes 2 in the upper part of a blast furnace. The operator pulls horizontally the wire rope by a hand winch on a working deck and attaches a travelling device 12 thereto. The operator ties further the sub-wire rope 13 of electrically driven winches 6, 7 to both sides of the device 12, moves the device 12 toward the right on the wire rope 10 and moves and stops the same until the swiveling axis of a spraying nozzle 18 aligns to the central axis of the furnace. The operator operates a lifting winch 15 to descend a sprayer 14 and stops the sprayer when the nozzle 18 arrives at the upper limit position of the wall required to be repaired. The length of the nozzle is so selected in this stage that the space between the nozzle tip and the inside wall 1 of the furnace attains a required value. A force feeder for the repair material to be sprayed and water and a device for swiveling the nozzle 18 is remotely operated to perform spraying at the uppermost level and thereafter the sprayer 14 is lowered and the same operation is repeated.
