The unit for lifting and moving bales of hay, straw or silage is coupled to the three-point lift (3,3) mechanism of a tractor. It comprises a swivelable (2) longitudinal beam (1), pointed prongs (4) parallel to and below the beam and pointed curved hooks (5) which are swivelable relative to the beam via a transverse horizontal shaft (7). - The hooks hang freely in downward direction with their points upwards whilst the spacing between beam and prongs and between beam and hook points. Their upward direction are such that, when the pins are driven into the load and the beam is lifted, the load tips on to the hooks and is held between pins and hooks.
