The machine is installed at the end of a toothbrush prodn. line. Each brush is positioned, under a plate, with its tufts upwards. The plate is lowered towards the brush, so that each of a number of probes, protruding from the underside of the plate, comicomes into contact with one tuft. The upward pressure of the tuft overcomes a spring around the probe, which then breaks electricaly contact with a metal strip on the plate. - Each probe is connected to one input of an electronic gate circuit. If any of the probes are still in contact with the strip, the gate circuit output causes the defective brush to be ejected from the production line before the packing operation.(0/31)
