摘要
The soil-less non-hydroponic crop-growing system is especially for sprouting cereal grins for livestock fodder. The system consists of an insulated chamber, e.g. in the form of a steel or aluminium transport container with a controlled climate, irrigation system and lighting. - The cereal seeds, e.g. barley, wheat or alfalfa, are placed in a layer in trays which are moved round a circuit over a period of eight days. Each day the grains are sprayed with water in a mist form so that they sprout and grow, producing at the end of the period a harvest of shoots which is 100 per cent edible material. As each tray is emptied of the sprouted grains it is re-filled to begin a new cycle.
