The method for the investigation of aquifers and groundwater stagnation in loose rock is used for the metrological recording and characterization of different types of soil. It is mainly used in the opencast lignite mining industry and construction and silicate raw materials industry, where better information on the properties of shingled layers for groundwater hydraulic systems, especially in the case of groundwater recharge, is required. The layers to be investigated are to be examined and recorded from their surface, whereby their photographic images are photometrically converted into gray scale ranges and compared with the gray scale ranges of known loose rocks and their grain composition. The gray values found allow conclusions about the grain composition and their quantitative, coordinate-related classification in the shed body.
