A process for the production of anhydrite cement from phosphogypsum characterized in that the phosphygypsum is ultimately mixed with one or more primary additives such at the phosphates, chlorides, fluorides, sulphates, fluosilictes and carbonates of alkali metals with or without secondary additives such as the oxides, hydroxides or carbonates of alkaline earth metals and then subjected to a thermal treatment in the range of 750 to 1200 degree Celsius.
