Unit comprises supports (5a, 5b) which are alternately moved (cylinders 2a, 2b) between a lower receiving station and an upper delivery station (9). The delivery station is provided with transfer means (8) transverse cylinder (10) moving yoke (11) carrying gripper (12) which moves individual objects or groups laterally to a stacking station (behind drawing plane). The latter station comprises a carrier which is actuated (e.g. driven (17, 17a) a screw spindles (16) to move downwards as objects are stacked thereon. In the lowermost position of this carrier, an ejector plate is actuated (14a, to the R) to move the stack (19) laterally into a magazine (18).
