Metallic minerals are sepd. from compsns. contg. gangue by contacting the compsn. with particle size less than 10 microns, with 2 immiscible liqs., comprising (a) an aq. soln. of a metal sulphate and (b) an aq. soln. of a polyethylene glycol with mol.wt. 2000-25,000. Pref the polyethylene glycol has mol.wt. 2500-20,000 and is used as a 10-25 wt.% soln. The sulphate soln. contains 100-300g sulphate/l of water.
