The unit for absorbing CO2 contained in a gas (4) with the aid of a liq. (3,17) comprises an absorber (5) wit inlet (12;14) and outlet (13;49) for the gas and the liq. respectively and a regenerator (6) whih is connected with the outlet (49) and provided with inlet (20) and outlet (21) for a desorption agent (36) and with an outlet for liquid connected to the inlet (14) via a return line (38). The absorber and the regenerator are arranged at different levels, e.g. the absorber at a higher level, with a liquid storage tank (24) below the regenerator. Absorber and regenerator are pref. arranged in a column (7) consisting of two releasably connected (10,11) parts (8,9).
