The grip element for a car tyre comprises an elastic strap with a C-shape to fit over the tyre. Each element has cable loops (6) embedded in it to reinforce the grip. The cables are looped over cross-bars (7) inside each end of the strap. Holes (10) over the cross-bars enable metal hooks (2) to clip over the bars and join the grip elements to the securing cable (3) around the rim of the tyre. Each element can be replaced when damaged, simply by unclipping the metal hooks.
