The construction of a slide needle, for knitting or warp knitting applications, has the hooked point in the slide resting in a recess when in the closed position, the recess being of the same height as the slide above the hooked point level. The design allows the slide needle to be mfd. cheaply, giving a positive action on the yarn without incurring breaking, partic. when handling bulked texturised yarn of a number of threads or filaments.
