Connection joint for towing bar - has rectangular plate on lorry connected to U:shaped plate with sprung pins locating in lorry plate holes

The tow-bar connection joint has on one side a rectangular plate (2) welded to a bar (1) projecting solidly from the back of the lorry. The other side has a bar (3) from a swivel joint on the trailer welded to a U-shaped connecting piece (4). The connecting piece houses sprung pins (16, 17) at each side of the axis of the two bars (1, 3). The rectangular plate has holes with shoulders (18) to accommodate the pins. The joint is made by sliding the rectangular plate into the channel of the U shaped piece until sprung pins fall into the holes and so prevent further lateral motion.
