Sulphate impurity removal from fluorite ore or concentrate - by heating under reducing conditions to convert sulphate(s) to oxide(s), the sulphur being removed by effluent gases
Method of reducing the S-content (as sulphate impurities) of fluorite ore (or concentrate) consists of heating the ore at 700-1000 degrees C under reducing conditions. The sulphates are then converted into oxides, and the sulphur removed via the effluent gases.
